Circumstances of Disappearance
Jacobs was last seen at a  service station on North Carolina 211 in Red Springs, North Carolina during the early morning hours of February 26, 1996. He was getting into a black Pontiac Gran Prix, which contained multiple unidentified occupants. Jacobs has never been heard from again. That is the last time anyone will admit to seeing Troy. Investigators believe he was taken against his will. He had told his father earlier that day that he was having some trouble with someone and was concerned for his safety. His case is unsolved and foul play is suspected.
Many are suspicious of an older man Troy became acquainted with when he lived in Spring Lake— a suspected drug dealer Jacobs knew only as George. He said he used to come to this area a lot to hunt, but after Troy disappeared, George never came back to Hoke County.
